Tennessee Valley Field Trip

Today we visited Tennessee Valley with geologist and MCDS alumni parent Chip Koch. The weather was beautiful and Willows have a greater appreciation for our environment. They learned things like:

  • tiny dead bugs form the outcrop of rocks that we saw
  • the rock we saw was formed from an earthquake
  • there are thousands of kinds of rocks
  • the rock we examined is called Ribbon Chert
  • the giant rock used to be 1000 feet under water
